My darling boy, what a year to be born into.
Thank you for being our shining light this year.
You have shone so bright in all of this we have often forgotten how bleak it has been outside of these four walls.
You have given us hope.
You have given us purpose.
You have given us laughter.
You have given us so much happiness.

2020, will always be the year you made us your Mummy & Daddy.

2020, will always be the year that taught us what’s truly important in our lives.

So thank you sweet Siddy Boo for making this year the best one yet ❤️

When Sidney met Santa! 🎅🏽 🎄

At the weekend a neighbours grandpa dressed up as Father Christmas, and sat outside the houses on our development so all of the children could come out and meet him.

Sidney is a little too young to understand much this year; which is probably a good thing, but we loved joining in on the fun.

Most importantly it meant coming together with our neighbours again, something that meant so much to us all during lockdown.

Later that evening the Prime Minister announced further lockdown restrictions which have affected so many people across the country. Everything felt a little gloomy again.

I’m trying to think practically and spin everything positively where I can right now. I remember the first lockdown where as a nation we all came together, looked after one another, and supported one another.

Our little development of 15 houses all shone at this togetherness.

We shared supermarket slots, picked up medication for those shielding. We had a weekly Zoom quiz with with a fancy dress theme and sanitised prizes left at doorsteps the next day, we had a constant conversation in the group chat. Advice, jokes, as well as comfort were all shared.

The point is, I’m urging people not to forget those moments during first lockdown and to come together during the next one.

I know we were all expecting for this to be over by now. We were told lockdown in November and you will have Christmas. And it feels harsh for that to be taken away for so many. But we have to remember we’re all still in this together and we can make it easier for one another through really simple things.

It is the kindness of those around us, the unexpectedness that has brought so much joy this year.

So thank you to our neighbours for making this happen, and most importantly for everything in 2020 😘

We went out & did something Christmassy & it felt

We went out & did something Christmassy & it felt amazing!

I booked this months ago when Sidney was only weeks old. Must have been baby brain or bad forward planning but I booked for 7:45pm, when Sidney would usually be in bed!

I stressed all week in the lead up about how we would make it work. Whether he would cry all the way through because he would want to be asleep in bed. I tried to change our ticket times but couldn’t. I even contemplated not going.

Then I thought FUCK IT!

This one evening isn’t going to disrupt much at all, & memories with him are so much more important than his routine sometimes.

I won’t remember in years to come if it was difficult for him to sleep that night or if he was cranky the next day. I will however remember special nights and memories like this.

Like most people, we haven’t been able to do a lot of festive things this year. I have moaned about having to stay in the house. So I seized this opportunity and had an amazing evening with our little boy.

It was special
It was magical
It was festive
It was perfect

I know times are hard right now and everything seems quite doom & gloom. But we have to reshape the rhetoric where possible. Focus on what we have, and what we can do.

Be positive & hopeful, it’s infectious 🤍

WINGING IT Nearly every day feels like I’m wing

WINGING IT

Nearly every day feels like I’m winging it at the moment when it comes to parenting. Earlier this week I grabbed some spinach, cheese and pesto and decided to make some pastries for Sidney. Something I’ve never attempted to cook before!

His teeth have really been bothering him so I needed something soft and tasty. He won’t really let a spoon in his mouth at the moment.

I would share the recipe but I’m quite shocked at how these turned out and how much he loved them! I literally boiled spinach, mixed in pesto and cheese then through it in the pastry and washed it with egg. Then into the oven it went for 15 minutes.

For all other mamas who are feeling the same way right now, how good does it sometimes feel for something to go right.

Anyone got any great teething recipes I can try?

When I reflect and think about how I had 9 months to prepare for motherhood, and they say no matter how much time you have you’re never actually fully prepared for what it entails. Throw in Covid, and it’s been an absolute whirlwind. The absolute definition of something I could never have prepared for.

Covid has turned everyone’s worlds upside down. Yet all I can think about is how much I would have struggled not having Sidney here for it. Yes there are days where I panic, days when I’m anxious, days when I’m angry at this situation. I moan it’s unfair this is how my maternity leave has been spent. Days where I ask my husband 50 times do you think we’re going to lockdown again? But then I look at Sidney. And I see his smile. I see him starting to crawl this week and I’m baffled as to how he has developed a new skill without seeing someone else do it. I see that he’s happy, and that he is absolutely thriving. He isn’t affected by this. So I should ensure I’m not either. This is all he knows. He has his Mummy & Daddy with him every single day. With very little in life going on he has our absolute and undivided time and attention. And I realise what a magical time it is to be born, he has all he needs.

🕎 Happy Chanukah 🕎

Last night we celebrated Sidney’s first night of Chanukah. It was so cute to see his face as his daddy lit the menorah. He was fascinated by the spinning dreidels (swipe right for video) and loved the songs we sung.

Sidney is going to experience a real blend of both mine and my husbands family traditions at this time of year. And I just can’t wait to see his face throughout them all!

Another special memory shared with our baby boy, & just can’t wait for so many more 🥰

So happy Chanukah everyone, this year reminds me that even during a pandemic we all have the ability to add a little light into the world and into each other’s lives. Shine bright! 🌟

Well someone loved the parachute at sensory class

Well someone loved the parachute at sensory class yesterday!

As we’re in Tier 2 Sidney’s sensory class restarted this week & I can’t explain how great it felt to be out of the house and see him enjoying himself so much.

Seeing his face light up as he sees other babies, & joining in with all the games just makes my year!

I’m so excited for Sidney’s first Christmas & introducing him to our family traditions. A mixture of Christmas and Chanukah. He might not understand any of it yet but we’re going to try our best to make it the most magical time of the year for him. And if these pictures are anything to go by he’s enjoying it already💫
